Customer Reviews:Average Customer Rating: Great job Dux! Dux does a great job going over the features of SharePoint related to project management. The book is easy to follow and shows you how to use SharePoint features to manage projects with out-of-the-box features. Too elemental, good if you don't know share point This is a "for dummies" book. A simpe book that was a waste of money.... Like some of the people that have posted here, I saw the title and the fact that it was from O'Reilly and thought this may be an enlightening book both from a PM standpoint and from a heavy SharePoint user. I cannot express the level of my disappointment. I did not find one useable concept in this entire book. Step by Step PMIS Setup This book is a must for anyone planning to manage projects via sharepoint! The book is setup in a very user-friendly format. Dux Raymond Sy also provides additional support materials with this book. Great Introduction to SharePoint Simply the best introduction to SharePoint that I've ever read. Five of the nine chapters are devoted to speaking plainly about what elements make up a site. There are pictures on every page which makes this paperback book a very quick read. The last four chapters talk about creating lists that are specific to project management like risks and change requests but I think that even people who do not manage projects will benefit from seeing an example of when to use a SharePoint site all the way through from creation to archive. While this book is not going to teach Project Managers anything new about PMP methodology, I think it's real value lies in helping any member of a project team to easily grasp the concepts of why SharePoint is a great tool for evaluating risk, reporting progress, and helping everyone on the project stay on task. | | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
