Summaries and Customer Reviews are supplied by Amazon.com Every year, millions of withdrawn little girls and chronically overwhelmed women go undiagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder because they don't fit the stereotypical profile: they’re not fast-talking, hyperactive, or inattentive, and they are not male. Sari Solden’s groundbreaking study reveals that ADD affects just as many women as men, and that the resulting depression, disorganization, anxiety, and underachievement are also symptoms of ADD. Newly revised and updated to reflect the latest clinical research, the book explores treatment and counseling options, and uses real-life case histories to examine the special challenges women with ADD and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) face, such as the shame of not fulfilling societal expectations. Included is a brand new chapter on friendship for women with ADHD. Three empowering steps — restructuring one's life, renegotiating relationships, and redefining self-image — help women take control of their lives and enjoy success on their own terms. The BEST resource on females with ADD/ADHD | Customer Rating: | | This is an excellent resource that I would highly recommend to anyone that wants to learn more about females with AD/HD. It is also very readable if you have ADD; it is entertaining, informative, practical, and broken down in a way that allows readers to quickly find what they are looking for. If you are affected with the disorder, teach students with ADD, the parent of a child with ADD, or just find the topic interesting, this book is the best single resource I have found on the topic. | Excellent book for women with ADHD | Customer Rating: | This is one of the first books that has addressed concerns of the ADHD woman. It has given first hand knowledge and advice from someone who has been there. She is a therapist who has ADHD herself and lives with it successfully. I will use this book as a kind of "Bible" every day. | A Life Changing Book | Customer Rating: | I had checked this book out of the library before I bought it. For any woman that has been diagnosed with ADD and grew up not knowing you were ADD, this book is amazing! It is as if someone is sitting in your head writing down all the different emotions and feelings that you have ever had. It is very helpful in coming to terms with and accepting your ADD as a part of who you are. Then it helps you to find ways to work around the negative effects of ADD. This book totally changed my life!
| U should buy this book! | Customer Rating: | | I think this is one of the best books for women with Add. Most books are boring and technical or focus on children with ADD. This book is written for women who are often left behind in being diagnosed correctly or who want info for themselves. I kept this book and like to read it again now and then to get inspiration. Sari Solden is great at keeping it simple so everyone can understand the info presented. There are some lists to help you. I recommend this book to everyone. | just what i needed | Customer Rating: | | this is the first book i bought after being diagnosed with add at age 23. it was the perfect book to introduce me to the add world, it has great suggestions and was incredibly validating to what i had been feeling all of these years. a great starting point for any woman with add and i will probably read it again. |
