Halle's dates were beyond hysterical and I could not put this book down. I laughed out loud and cheered for these characters.

Debbie Macomber does it again and hits another one right out of the park! I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to enjoy a fast read and one that will make them laugh and cheer for the people within its covers!

Light, summer reading....

This was the current selection in my book club, not my choice, but it was cute. It's a romance novel by one of the more currently popular writers of the genre, Debbie Macomber. One thing with everyone picking a book every month, we get a varied amount of genres in our club. I haven't read a romance novel in a few years. If you are a big romance fan or a big fan of Macomber's, please don't take this to heart. It is my own opinion, right?

well, I found it very very predictable, but I suppose most romance novels are, right? Also, the main character, Hallie, was kind of annoying. Why would Macomber have a woman not more than 10 pounds overweight be so obsessed with her weight and her diet? There are a lot of women who live like this and have the same attitudes but they are usually real overweight women. I couldn't sympathize with her. While she did seem like a realistic enough character, I just didn't find myself really routing for her to have a happy ending. She's turning 30 and is still single. Wanting a man, marriage, and family, she feels like time is running out. She has a lot of bad dates, but we all know her neighbor, Steve, who becomes her friend will eventually become more. He's divorced(relucantly) and very hot, and has two children from his marriage. I liked this character, he seemed very down to earth.

Other characters seemed one dimensional, as they so often do in these books. It's safe to say I will not be reading another light summer romance for another year. I read so many deep, intensely thought provoking works, that I just don't feel very satisfied with books like this.

I just got through reading this book and enjoyed it very much. I have found that there are very few Debbie Macomber books that I don't like. Her writing style is very good and her characters come to life for you.

a predictable yet entertaining quick summer read...

okay. so i don't give it five stars. that's because i knew what was going to happen from the moment steve moved in next door to hallie, and i was a bit annoyed when the story dragged on. however, some of hallie's dates were absolutely hysterical and i found myself rereading these encounters aloud to my husband so we both had a good laugh. unfortunately, we know that there are men out there similar to those who hallie encounters. the moral is a good one. you'll have to kiss a lot of toads before you find your prince... don't settle... hold out for mr. right.

This book is one of my favorite books by debbie macomber!!!
