Kaari Meng's first-hand knowledge of what makes a beautiful, French-inspired home comes from years of combing French flea markets for unique treasures. Her popular shop, French General, offers handpicked linens and collectibles from her yearly visits to the south of France, plus an array of products to awaken the senses, from bath and laundry potions to ribbons, beads, and baubles. Here, she distills her much sought-after sensibility into 40 charming projects that capture the sights, scents, and textures of the French countryside. They include lavender sachets, lovely etched glasses, pillows, covered hangers, French potting boxes, and herbal lotions. This is such an adorable book!!! | Customer Rating: | | I have read and reread this book a 100 times, well nearly!! If you want great eye candy and inspiration on how to display your beloved collections or simply want to get some ideas on how to "frenchify" your home then this is the book for you!! | On the Nightstand | Customer Rating: | | I like to look at books like this before I fall asleep. I love French homes, but my style is more the sort of home you find in Provence, and this is not that. It's fussy and frilly and feminine, and I should have figured that out before I bought it. I've lived in France and I've never really seen a home like this. This book and the other on jewelry are primarily pitched so that you will visit their store and buy stuff, I think. | Sooooo Boring! | Customer Rating: | | I should have believed the bad reviews that I read on Amazon and not bought this book. They were right. I could have saved the return shipping charge. This book was such a dissapointment. Nothing new, creative or interesting about it. Also, it has nothing in common with any French lifestyle. I returned it the next day. | Every house needs a little french decorating | Customer Rating: | | Bring the look of French decorating to your home. I love this book, never having been to France and only seeing limited books on French decorating, I find this to be one of the best, it is kind of a more laid back decorating approach than the more formal French decorating books I have seen, it is well done and gives you some projects you can tackle as a beginner sewer. This book looks at french tickings and uses for them throughout your home, if you have ever come across French tickings and the like, you will find they are so versatile in your home, and you will keep wanting to get more. A 5 star book. | a tease | Customer Rating: | | A beautiful book--if you like shabby chic, it's for you. Good ideas, but not always practical unless you have access to a lot of estate sales and flea markets where dealers don't price themselves out of the market. |
