This book provides students with a clear and thorough presentation of the theory and application of structural analysis as it applies to trusses, beams, and frames. Emphases are placed on teaching readers to both model and analyze a structure. A hallmark of the book, Procedures for Analysis, has been retained in this edition to provide learners with a logical, orderly method to follow when applying theory. Chapter topics include types of structures and loads, analysis of statically determinate structures, analysis of statically determinate trusses, internal loadings developed in structural members, cables and arches, influence lines for statically determinate structures, approximate analysis of statically indeterminate structures, deflections, analysis of statically indeterminate structures by the force method, displacement method of analysis: slope-deflection equations, displacement method of analysis: moment distribution, analysis of beams and frames consisting of nonprismatic members, truss analysis using the stiffness method, beam analysis using the stiffness method, and plane frame analysis using the stiffness method. For individuals planning for a career as structural engineers. Awesome Book | Customer Rating: | | One of my most favorite books on structural theory. It was very easy to understand, tons of examples, and is still a valuble resource for calculating structural problems at work. | thanks | Customer Rating: | book was brand new and cheaper than at my college bookstore thanks again | terrible text for undergrads | Customer Rating: | | I am a civil engineering student and this was the text for my structural mechanics course, and I hated it. There were no exaamples, those contained within skipped half of the steps, and there were numerous errors throughout the text. I do not reccommend this text to other students. | Solutions Manual necessary | Customer Rating: | | Like all his books, Hibbeler does a wonderful job organizing and laying out the material. However, also like his other books, the example problems in the chapter are not in the same realm of difficulty as the problems at the end of the chapter. With subject matter this difficult, it would be an excellent idea to acquire the solutions manual, a nearly impossible book to find. Good Luck! | Very Good For Self Study | Customer Rating: | I have studied every single page of this book. It is very good for self study and an ideal one towards undergraduate perfection. Complex topics are told in a very clear manner. Examples and figures make the book so understandable. Strongly recommended before entering into advanced topics... (I could find 2 errors but they are obvious if you be careful) |
