Interesting read and entertaining | Customer Rating: | I moved to South Carolina from Canada and had the expectation that I would be tripping over snakes. I found very quickly that finding them (other than dead on the road) is a bit more of a challenge.
I found this book full of excellent suggestions and am in the process of laying tin 'hides' to see if I can attract some snakes.
These guys are a trip and don't take themselves too seriously. Good thing because at times it's hard for the reader to do so!
Worth the buy. | Best book for this subject in decades. | Customer Rating: | This book covers the subject of "field herping" as a whole. They offer wonderful insight into productive measures taken. This book is very honest, and to the point. It is well written in the sense that it's very understandable and not over technical making it a great book for the beginner, with enough substance that a seasoned veteran will be entertained. My only complaint on this book is that I wanted it to be longer so that the fun of it wouldn't stop.
The tools of the trade section I think is especially good for those that lack a support system to learn from. This book is highly recommended to all interested in the natural history of snakes. | A book for every REAL Snake Guy | Customer Rating: | Most of the snake literature out there is watered down for a general audience. This book was written by two common, regular everyday "Snake" guys. Not since the days of Kauffeld, have books been truly written for snake guys like this.
They share their experiences and techniques over the years that have yeilded them thousands of snakes in the field.
Their observations and honest opinions are what make this book gold.
I also got the autographed version, and just knowing that the two men who put a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and money into this book, personally signed my copy, makes this book even more special. |
