intelligent, provocative

It helps also to read the updated revision, 21st Century Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures which includes current terminology and modern scientific discoveries. The thoughts in "Science and Health" are definitely Christian, however, by default, include a spiritual interpretation of all "Scripture" because Christ, Truth, embraces all people and creation. |
The second best book of all time
| Customer Rating: | This book will will challenge, comfort and heal you in ways you haven't dreamed were possible. It has brought Joy, Harmony and balance to the lives of countless people all over the world. If this teaching were not introduced into my family, I don't know what would have become of me. Science and Health will help every committed seeker for Truth and Salvation find it. This book is Christian like no other, and is based on the Bible exclusively.

This is a great book on spiritual healing
| Customer Rating: | I started working recently with a Christian Science practitioner from Australia named Michael. Even though I am not a Christian Scientist, someone gave me some essence of the teachings, which I really enjoy:
1. God is divine Love, Father-Mother, supreme.
2. The true nature of each individual as a child of God is spiritual.
3. God's infinite goodness, realized in prayer, heals
If you ever visit a Christian Science Church, and attend a program - such as the Wednesday evening prayer meeting - you will see this wonderful saying of Mary Baker Eddy: "Divine Love always has met, and always will meet, every human need." This books sheds much light on our spiritual relationship with God, and I read this, in conjunction with books by Tiffany Snow. As a result, I am more at peace, and contentment.

Some (hopefully) unbiased Points
| Customer Rating: | So much of the reviews here are based on the Christian Scientists defending it and those against CS railing against it.
I was born in CS so that might make many people stop reading here since all they want to hear is how evil this book is. My attempt here is to, as unbiasedly as I can, review this book.
It's hard to read (On the plus side, it's good for learning SAT words). Mary Baker Eddy switches person tense from, "The founder", to "I", and everything in between. Like any textbook, it belabors the point multiple times. There are also very interesting points brought up that I had never thought of.
What this book is, first and foremost, is something to study and question. It is not a reworded Bible for Christian Scientists nor is it our medicine to heal our every ailment. In fact, in my most dire circumstances I don't think about the Science & Health. I do use what ideas it has said and my own personal experience to help. What it essentially comes down to is reading, questioning, and personal choice. |
