Summaries and Customer Reviews are supplied by Amazon.com People are the backbone of projects and the most important resource in a project. To survive and grow in the twenty-first century, project managers must learn and use appropriate human skills to motivate and inspire all those involved in the project. This book offers practical guidelines that can be used to develop and implement the human skills appropriate to project management: communication, motivation, negotiation, conflict resolution, conflict and stress management, and leadership. This book is Volume Two of The Human Aspects of Project Management series. Good overview but too theoretical | Customer Rating: | In this second volume, the author covers almost all soft issues: how to organize great meetings, active listening, conflict management tactics, motivation theories (such as Maslow's, Erg's, Herzberg's and Mc Clelland's), guidelines for successful negotiations and team development stages. It is a good summary but is a bit short of practical examples or case studies to make this knowledge actionable. | The relationships of the project manager towards the other roles in the organization | Customer Rating: | This book explains the difference between the role of the project manager and the other roles in the organization, like the line manager for example, and explains important concepts such as authority, accountability, responsibility and reliability. From there, it looks at different organizational models, from weak to strong matrix. Easy to read and addressing the typical problems the project manager is confronted to. | A must have for ever PM | Customer Rating: | The book provides a wealth on information that others in the PM range don't. It looks on the human side in projects, how to set the project INCLUDING the team up for succes.
This requires definitely more than just a good network diagram, a good scope and a decent budget. What more.. can be found in the book.
Usefull for beginner and advanced PM. Altough I think someone with more experience understands the book more.
The only regret I have is that I did not buy it earlier. | Managing the Project Team | Customer Rating: | | Excellent service. The book arrived quicker than I expected and in excellent condition. I ordered on 6-25 and received the book on 6-27. I am very pleased. |
