DENTAL MANAGEMENT OF THE MEDICALLY COMPROMISED PATIENT is an up-to-date, concise, factual reference describing the dental management of patients with selected medical problems. The book offers the dental provider an understanding of how to ascertain the severity and stability of common medical disorders, and make dental management decisions that afford the patient the utmost health and safety. Medical problems are organized to provide a brief overview of the basic disease process, the incidence and prevalence of the disease, pathophysiology, signs and symptoms, laboratory findings, currently accepted medical therapy of each problem, and a detailed explanation and recommendations for specific dental management. The accumulation of evidence-based research over the last few years has allowed the authors to include more specific dental management guidelines in the sixth edition.
Not for everyone, not anymore!
| Customer Rating: | | A little bit out-of-date in the way body systems are reviewed in the Center (body) part of the book. Principally, the single section that I found valuable throughout my Dental school was the summary review of systems that is offered at the front of the book, which worked as a fast reference (basically, I tore that section off from the rest of the book!). Nevertheless, it might still work in a better way when it comes to being used by some residents in certain fields like that of surgery, GPR, AEGD, and so forth where they need to go over the boring center (body) of the book. |
a great and helpful book

Horribly out of date now
| Customer Rating: | | This book may have been okay when it was published but using it as a text in 2007 is a big mistake my instructor really regrets. There are many other guides that are lower in price and have more concise and up to date information available. Do not waste your time with this one. Many of the descriptions are ambiguous and hard to follow. |
Most used textbook during my residencies!

It provides both medical and dental management for most encountered problems that patients present with and has lots of great quick reference tables! |
