Summaries and Customer Reviews are supplied by Amazon.com Major emphasis is placed on the basic premises of criminal law, including its sources and general limitations. This Hornbook provides detailed discussion on the topics of responsibility, justification and excuse, inchoate crimes and accomplice, and liability. Attention is also given to subjects such as causation, insanity, and conspiracy. Great Resource!! | Customer Rating: | | I am only a 1L but this book was recommended to me by a practicing attorney. This book is great for a more in depth analysis of topics and concepts discussed in class. | The King of Criminal Law Hornbooks | Customer Rating: | This hornbook is the master work on substantive criminal law, frequently cited by all courts, including the United States Supreme Court. It analyzes all the questions that are not peculiar to a particular state. Where different views are presented by various states, that's covered.
The hornbook weighs in on questions where there are differences of opinion, in numerous references to the "better view," without denigrating the positions that are not designated as the "better view."
Anyone who orders this hornbook will be dazzled by the clarity with which it addresses a complex subject: substantive law. | Not up to West Hornbook Quality | Customer Rating: | | I own all five first year West Hornbooks (Property, Contracts, etc.) and they all are a great help except for this one. It seems every time I have a question, this one doesn't have an answer. I love the other West Hornbooks, and after using the others, I just can't put this one in the same category for breadth, helpfulness or clarity. |
