Includes chapter review questions. Great book for teens who are serious about God | Customer Rating: | Christian Beliefs: Twenty Basics Every Christian Should Know
This is a systematic theology for middle school students who are serious about God, or high school students, or college students who are not ready to tackle his larger work Systematic Theology. A great book for youth ministers to teach through or use in small groups. His Systematic Theology is much more thorough and I recommend it instead of Christian Beliefs, if you are a hard core disciple no matter your age. | Christian Beliefs - Good for small grous | Customer Rating: | | This is a "dumbed-down" version of Grudems's tome on Systematic Theology. It's basically "Theology for Dummies". Grudem does a great job of presenting solid theology in a way that most Christians don't feel overwhelmed like they would reading his larger work. It's good for small groups. We used it in our college ministry with the topic "20 Questions" and took a chapter a week. We are now starting it in our home group. | Great introduction of theology | Customer Rating: | | This is a great book to start basic theology with. I am a minister and a theologian and I bought several copies to give to some friends I am mentoring. Wayne Grudem's theology is sound and easy to understand proving that theology does not need to be communicated using arcane language and obscure metaphores. This book is a must for any Bible believing Christian wanting to understand the deep things of God and his word! | good resource | Customer Rating: | | A good resource for those seeking to know God and who He is and a good reminder for believers to regain their perspective of who God is. I am a believer with a personal relationship with God. I don't agree with some of the doctrines presented in this book(being of the Reformed church) but the meat and potatoes of Christianity is here. The small differences doesn't determine our salvation. I can unite with other Christians and the church by keeping in mind what are the notions vs. what are the landmarks. When you re-establish the basics of who God is and all His attributes you can continue to grow in your faith with what is most important....to Trust and Obey. We can't do it by trying to be the one in control and living life on our own power. This book puts the focus back on where that true power and control is. With God! | Comprehensive and yet easy to Read! | Customer Rating: | I really enjoy this book because it was so easy and to the point.
Every topic from Wayne Grudem's Systematic Theology is covered and instead of a thousand pages it is covered in about 150 pages. VERY SIMPLE READ - I would suggest this book for developing lesson plans or providing it to a believer who has a lot of questions and you want to encourage them to review their bible before they review people's opinions. This book is in no way exhaustive but hits very key points so as to "get the picture". This book take theological doctrine and tightly packs it. For instance, a chapter about God is condensed into 5 pages just as any other doctrinal issues.
If you are looking for a quick read, that is not for the serious study this book is it. Additionally, I use this in accord with my Grudem's larger book "Systematic Theology".
I also would HIGHLY SUGGEST The Moody Handbook of Theology by Paul Enns to supplement this book. |
