Berns' best-selling book helps students understand the socialization process of children via the powerful conceptual framework of Urie Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Model of Human Development. Berns closely examines the interactive effects of family, childcare, school, peer groups, media, community, and societal factors (including culture, political ideology, economics, and technology) on the socialization of the child to vividly illustrate the concepts of the course and help students learn how the various aspects of a child's environment affect his or her development. | One Sided View of 3 Dimensional Topic | Customer Rating: | | I found this book to be rather insulting. When writing a book based on empirical evidence, an author's personal opinions on the subject matter may be evident. However, this view point should not be of such a magnitude where the evidence presented will support only one side of a two sided argument. This book was, clearly, biased, and in a very bad way. I found it quite pretentious. | Very Educational but Can Get Boring | Customer Rating: | | I got this book for my home, school, and community class. So far it has been very helpful and educational, but can get a bit on the wordy side and make ya want to quit reading. | Excellant service | Customer Rating: | | The delivery speed was outstanding. The quality of the product is perfect. I feel safe and secure shopping at Amazon.com. I know this sounds like a generic message, but honestly it was a great experience. |
