I have something to confide in you. I think my husband, Dave, might be having an affair. I found an earring in his pocket, and it’s not mine. I’m also worried because some jewelry was recently stolen from an old woman—and Dave used to visit her a lot. You see, he’s a pastor. And a good man. I can’t believe he’s guilty of anything, but why won’t he tell me where he’s been when he comes home so late?

Too little story.....
| Customer Rating: | | I was anxiously waiting for the next book in the series, but I was disappointed. There was too much reviewing of the past books and too little story. There is still another coming and if it is the same, I am not going any further. |
A very special tale
| Customer Rating: | In Cedar Groove, Washington, Emily fears her husband Pastor Dave Flemming is having an affair. She is not sure who, but has found proof; Dave's jacket pocket contained another woman's earring and he comes home late at night, but will not tell her where he has been.
If he is not committing adultery, Emily fears he is grave robbing. He spent a lot time with a dying congregation member giving solace; after the person past away her relatives claim her jewelry was stolen. Dave had access to the woman's home and that damaging earring in his pocket. Emily prays to God for guidance to help her decide what to.
The latest Cedar Cove contemporary tale is an engaging story due to Emily's quandary as to what she should do. As always the support cast is solid and the audience receives updates on what is happening to the prime players from previous novels (see 74 SEASIDE AVENUE) and new neighbors are introduced (Like Sheriff Troy Davis' former love Faith Beckwith). Readers will enjoy the latest trek to Washington State as Emily wonders whether her moral kind husband has gone to the dark side.

Somewhat disappointing
| Customer Rating: | I discovered this series a year ago, and was fortunate enough to read the first seven in rapid succession.
Unfortunately, 8 Sandpiper Way was a somewhat disappointing read for me. Although it is billed as Dave and Emily Fleming's story, they share center stage with three other storylines.
I enjoy catching up on characters from previous stories, but I feel Dave and Emily really got shortchanged in this one. |
Typical Macomber (in a good way!)
| Customer Rating: | Emily Flemming' believes that her husband, a Pastor named Dave, is keeping secrets from her. He has returned late from work many nights, without telling her where he's been, and when she finds another woman's earrings in his jacket pocket, she finally confronts him. Dave seems shocked that she thinks he could betray her, and she soon begins wondering if instead he has been stealing from the home of a dying congregation member, whose family claims her jewelry has been stolen. Emily's suspicions and questioning over what to do make for an engaging story, and her struggle to keep the family together makes her a highly sympathetic character. Add to this a couple of other interesting sideplots and many characters Macomber readers will recognize from previous Cedar Cove novels, and I'm sure Macomber fans will not be disappointed. Curl up in your favorite chair, pour yourself a glass of mint tea and enjoy a light, easy summer read!
I'd also like to recommend another two novels we've included on our staff pick shelves, which I believe Macomber fans will enjoy. The Beach House is a sweet novel about an older woman who finds her money dwindling, and chooses to rent out rooms in her summer home, drawing a circle of new friends around her. Quite a warm and cozy book! In addition, I'd recommend Promise the Moon, a beautiful novel about a Marine family, a woman who writes letters to her children from her dead husband, offering them the life lessons she thinks he'd like them to know. It's sadder, and in a sense darker than Macomber's books, but it's also funny as heck in spots, beautifully written with so many twists that it becomes a real page turner. You'll adore this book, especially if you loved Elizabeth Arnold's first novel.

| Customer Rating: | The eighth book of the quaint town of Cedar Cove once again proves Deb Macomber is the queen of contemporary romance. The secrets start early in her latest offering as Pastor Flemming's behavior becomes more and more surreptitious. Circumstances go from bad to worse when his wife, Emily discovers a woman's earring inside his jacket pocket. With dodgie answers and no valid excuse for his late-night rendezvous, Emily suspects he is having an affair. An affair in Cedar Cove? Ah, but the answers to her husbands late-night trists thickens when reports that a woman of the Pastor's congregation, who recently passed away, had her jewelry stolen. So what is Emily to do? Either her husband is an adulterer or he is stealing from the homes of the recently deceased. Much like all of Deb's books the sixth book is loaded with side plots and all the familiar characters. So just sit back and enjoy this wonderful little town.
