Summary:
If there's anyone qualified to write a self-help book on success, it's Jack Canfield, who's worked his way from scraping by as a teacher to holding a Guinness world record for having seven books simultaneously on The New York Times® Best Sellers list.
As a coauthor of the Chicken Soup for the Soul® series, he's sold more than 80 million books, and now lives "in a beautiful California estate" with his days of dining on spaghetti and tomato paste long behind him. "All you have to do is decide what it is you want, believe you deserve it, and practice the principles in this book," he says, and success is yours.
His advice is straightforward (examples: "reject rejection" and "surround yourself with successful people"), but rather derivative, with quotes from the likes of JFK, Colin Powell, Aldous Huxley, and fellow motivation author Napoleon Hill.Canfield's definition of success is primarily monetary, and he includes plenty of anecdotes depicting average folks who saved themselves from the brink of bankruptcy after following his principles. He could tone down the braggadocio; readers don't need to know that he's stayed in resorts in Hawaii, Italy, Australia, and Morocco. Despite those gripes, his cheerleader-caliber enthusiasm should benefit anyone looking to improve their lot in life. --Erica Jorgensen
Our 25-year-old daughter, who just graduated from college in Dec, got this book from her grandmother. She has been reading it cover-to-cover and loves it. Even her friends are borrowing it from her. As a recent December graduate in these hard economic times -- it has been a real boost to her. Very motivational and inspiring! I hear excerpts from it from her daily!
I haven't read it yet myself, and was actually on the Amazon website to order a copy for ME. Thought I'd right the review (based on my daughter's review) while I was here. Also plan on buying the teen version for a grandchild.
Read It Over and Over Again.
Customer Rating:
A dear friend of mine gave me this book for Christmas last year. I value his opinion, but had told myself just the day before as I looked at my nightstand, "The last thing I need is another self-help book." Well, I was wrong. This is an amazing book. I read it through once. Then I went back and started working the exercises. Then I started reading a chapter each morning to motivate me. I've never read "The Secret," but from my understanding, this is "The Secret" with a business slant. The Success Principles is a compilation of the best parts of self-help, motivational, and good business practices books. I have referred the book to many people and have personally bought six copies to give to friends.
Great self-help book
Customer Rating:
This book is easy to read and laid out in away that is easy to make use of the information. The ideas are great, with lots of real life examples. I also listened to the version on CD and that is also a great way to digest the information. But I recommend reading it too, because it was exercises throughout the book to examine how the principles can work in your own life. I wish everyone used these principles in their lives. The world would be a better place!
Excellent!!!!

Customer Rating:
I've read many self help books over the years and Jack's book, The Success Principles, is by far the best! It's easy to follow and so helpful - forces you to do something about your life with the work it tells you to do. It's simply invigorating! This book has already changed my life to be more positive, uplifting, and to live my life to the fullest! I was so thrilled with this book I bought my husband and my 2 sons their own copies. Thank you, Michele :-)
