Customer Reviews:Average Customer Rating: A must have I highly recommend this book to anyone in the MFT field. It's a great source to have. A book every therapist would benefit from. This is a great informative book. It does not generalize all Asian, Latin or Middle Eastern cultures. It breaks it down into individual countries. It also gives a cultural history of the target group and their assimilation into American society. It is the only one I know of that discusses European Americans as part of diversity. My only disappointment is that there is no discussion of South America. Overall this is an excellent book recommended to me by one of my Psychology professors. wonderful! Although I initially bought this book for one of my school classes, I find myself frequently referencing it if I need a refresher. This book provides great overviews of many different cultures. As with any book attempting to discuss groups of individuals, one must read this book with an understanding that everything within it will not apply to everybody from that specific group. This book does a great job of discussing many of the similarities within members of each group. Ethnicity & Family Therapy McGoldrick promises to provide helpful tips for working with families of different ethnicities/origins, but falls short on delivering. The histories and backgrounds in each chapter are brief and general at best. There is no concrete info provided on counseling families...my advice is to find another textbook because this one doesn't give anything more than the very, very basics. Ethnicity and Family Therapy 3rd edition Review I believe this book is vitally important to anyone in the field of Social Work. I have found it to be extremely helpful in getting to know a little more about some of cultural belief of the client I've been working with. I have also gotten their individual perspectives from just asking them a little about their cultural belief systems as they interupt them for themselves. | | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
