Customer Reviews:Average Customer Rating: Nutrition knowledge is golden Even if you don't want or need to to lose weight, please read this book. Dr. Hyman explains how food works with our bodies. Everyone should know. great book If you are a yo-yo dieter this is the answer to all your problems, stop dieting and get health with this non diet diet ULTRAMETABOLISM This is a great book with lots of valuable information in it. Dr Hyman is right on target. Everything he says makes sense. Purely Theoretical This book is highly theoretical. I presume the author believes that humans can no longer evolve. We have certainly evolved to eat everything Dr. Hyman says to eat...many years ago. But how about now? What's to say our bodies can't accept new types of food? If you want results, exercise is still a quick way to receive them. It's also healthy for you in many areas of your physiology. I did get some good pointers for supplements. But I think that's it. Again, purely theoretical writing on Dr. Hyman's part. Wealth of information & entertaining too Found this book to be one of the best about diet / exercise and how to reverse insulin resistance. I was insulin resistant and pre-diabetic, and followed this books' guidelines starting last August. By December, I had lost 30 pounds and reversed the pre-diabetes. Then, I kept with the exercise plan but got adventurous with my diet. Sure enough, I gained back 20 pounds. Now I will go back on this diet again. Hopefully it works just as well the 2nd time around! BTW, before going with UltraMetabolism for the 2nd time, I will give the Eades' new diet a try, called "The 6 week cure". Strangely enough, the 6 week cure has alot in common with ultrametabolism with regards to metabolism, liver health, inflammation, etc... I would say ultrametabolism was well ahead of the Eades on this one! | | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
