Customer Reviews:Average Customer Rating: An excellent guide to trigger point therapy for the shoulders, but not an easy read. As someone who has been physically active most of my life, abusing my body through more than forty years of martial arts, for some unknown reason I developed frozen shoulder, losing flexibility in this area. I found this book very helpful when combined with my regular physical therapy. The exercises do not cure the frozen shoulder condition, but I found the exercises help to retard further problems in this area. I still do many of the stretching movements I learned in therapy sessions as well as using some of the trigger point methods in this fine book. Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Martial Art Myths, Season of the Warrior: a poetic tribute to warriors, Never Trust a Politician, Monadnock Defensive Tactics System, Use of the Monadnock Straight Baton, PR-24 Police Baton Advanced Techniques). Best help I've had I suffered a repetative stress injury to my left shoulder and after a futile visit to an orthopedist, saw my favorite physical therapist. He tried his best but nothing really helped. My left arm had become almost useless except for light duty tasks. I am an active person and really wanted the use of my arm back but didn't know what to do next. Then I stumbled on "The Frozen Shoulder Workbook" and read all the reviews on Amazon. I didn't have anything to loose, so I ordered the book and a TheraCane. I skimmed through the early chapters on anatomy and then skipped to the chapters detailing treatment. Diligently, I followed the instructions. Of the approximately 34 muscles and 70 trigger points Clair Davies details, ALL of mine were "exquisitely tender"! No wonder I couldn't move my arm and shoulder! After doing the therapy for even as little as twice a day (he recommends 3-6 times)for a week, I had significant reduction in pain and improvement in my range of motion. I am continuing with the trigger point therapy until I have full use of my arm again. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book to anyone who has shoulder/arm problems that haven't responded to standard medical treatment. Like Taking A Course In Shoulder Physiology I have frozen shoulder. The very idea of studying so so much and trying to incorporate all of the massage techniques on myself was overwhelming. IF someone has a devoted partner and are both willing to sit down together nightly and study this and highlight important aspects and faithfully incorporate the techniques then go for it. If you are a therapist this would be great, but not for the poor person in pain who has to suffer alone. The Frozen Shoulder Workbook: Trigger Point Therapy for Overcoming Pain & Regaining Range of Motion This is a great book for massage therapists, physical therapists, athletes, physical trainers, and/or anyone with shoulder pain. It is written for professional and lay person alike. The illustrations are very helpful, the instructions clear and concise. A valuable tool with lots of good information. Workbook The workbook is helpful in using trigger point therapy. We received it in good order and before promised date. | | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
