I needed a good drug book for nursing school and start of clinicals. I noticed this book is also standard issue on all the floors I have visited in my hospital. I like it because the indications (reason the drug would be used) are very clear and easy to locate as well as dosing information. This helps a ton when preparing for clinicals. For example, a pt has HTN and has a MAR with 20 drugs on it. I can look in the appendix under antihypertensives and at least get an idea of what drugs are a match. Then looking at the individual drugs, the dosing is given so I can determine if my pt is getting maximum doses, which alerts me to the level of severity of the condition. I use this book in so many different ways, which is easy to do because the layout is straightforward and simple to become familiar with.
