These books have been a part of my education and the education of others since my college days (and before). They are designed for students who desire a very different and far simpler approach. I often recommend them to others who are having difficulty in one of the many fields they cover. I have always been quite impressed with the way that they take any student into the details while keeping things as simple as possible, giving many problems to solve with solutions to all problems.

The service was excellent and the book in very good condition considering that it is a workbook. It has been tremendously helpful in learning Algebra and I would not be doing as well in the class if it were not for this book.

This is NOT the much more popular Schaum's Outline of College Algebra. This is a smaller version: Schaum's EASY outline. I don't think anybody will get much use out of it.

It's just lists of rules and definitions! There are no exercises! They'll tell you, for example, what the rational root theorem is and give a demonstration, but there are no problems you can work for yourself to get the rule into your blood. And of course there are no answers in the back of the book for self-studiers! Answers for what? There are no exercises!

This reminds me of a Latin grammar I have: nothing but rules and definitions without any practice.

Hard to see who could use this. A professor, assigning it as a supplementary text in a college algebra class?

Well, even for that purpose it'd be a waste of time. A real course in college algebra is going to have to go a lot deeper than this manual does.

Note that Schaum's Outline of College Algebra, 3/e (Schaum's Outline Series) (v. 3), by the same author, DOES have plenty of exercises with answers at the back (and not just the odd-numbered ones).

I'm disappointed. I read over reviews for a number of similar study guides and settled on Schaum's Outline of College Algebra in hopes of quickly reviewing before a placement test I need to take. While the book covers a lot, and I do mean a lot, of different topics, there are a lot, and I do mean a lot, of typos and inconsistencies in the set up of the text chapter to chapter. The typos in the steps to solving a problem are the worst. And sometimes, in the "Supplementary Problems" section, instead of leaving all of the answers to the end, they put them right next the the questions. Annoying. So far, I've skipped one chapter all together because the text made absolutly no sense. Maybe they're just teaching things differently these days (I doubt it). Overall, I'm disappointed and will try to find another study guide asap.

Seems a lil complicated. I think I should have ordered one for regular algebra first!
