This is a great text for one who doesnt know much about science, broken into easy to read chapters and topics.

I had to take the class that required this book two times and the second time, they had upgraded from the 4th edition to this 5th edition. So I went out and bought this new 5th edition only to find out when I got to class that the only real difference between the two books was that the chapters were in a different order, all of the chapter headings were the same! Waste of money, just buy the 4th edition.

I really like how the book is set up. I am using the book for a science class and it has seemed to be very helpful and easy to understand so far. The goal of the book is to show how the main types of science are integrated and can be studied together. Like I said, it is easy to read there are questions at the end of every chapter for better understanding. A glossary is also included in the back. I have the 5th edition

I bought this book thinking it was a "hardback" and it was not. I was sent the paperback. It is the title or book needed for my class, just not hardback. If I had known this seller was selling the soft copy and not the hardback as was listed on their listing, I would not have paid as much for the book.

I do not start the class until the end of this week, so I do not know how great a book it is. The author is one that has a very good writing style for students to learn from in his other books. The book seems from just looking through it to give a good overview of the sciences at the junior college level. I am not sure how good it would be for science majors.
