Customer Reviews:Average Customer Rating: Learn about your students' thinking This is a great resource for more than just science. Learn about your students' understandings and misconceptions quickly and in a way that is engaging to them. Learn how to focus your teaching more effectively. I love it! Fantastic Formative Assessment Ideas! One of the best books I've read when dealing with ideas for implementing formative assessments in the science classroom. Paige Keeley does an excellent job supporting the use of formative assessments with research based evidence. Then she gives 75 examples of types of assessments that can be used, how to use them, when to use them, how to adapt them.... WOW! For teachers who have little extra time to search for new ideas, this is a treasure trove of assessment methods and best of all - THEY WORK!! An excellent resource for Science teachers Underpinned by sound research into effective pedagogy, this is an excellent resource for all Science teachers. The suggested activities are all easily implemented in the classroom and provide opportunities for improved student learning. Other teachers, as well as Science teachers, would also find this text very worthwhile as many of the activities could be easily adapted. Great tool for class design A very good resource for beginning teachers and a good, thought provoking refresher for experienced ones. I especially like the table which gives suggestions for assessment types. Keeley has written several fine books on this topic, but this is the most inclusive and useful. Not just for science teachers! This book contains a concise description of 75 formative assessments. Most would take 5-10 minutes of class time. Although the examples are specific to K-12 science classes, they could be easily adapted for almost any subject or age group. This is a book that I will refer to many, many times in the coming school year. | | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
