This is probably the best study guide you can find. I gave four stars instead of five
because I thought the explanation to some of the math problems could have been
a little more clear. To understand the math I used a book called "Circuit Concepts" by
Thomas Kubala. I wanted to learn the material and not just memorize, and the ARRL manual
was really a great help. I passed on the first try with a 96%.

Beware however, unless you have a background in radio you're probably going to have to
put in some time if you want to do well on the exam. I studied at least one or two hours a day for
several weeks. I also used several of the practice exams and paid close attention to the
answers I got wrong. If you're prepared, then the exam isn't really too difficult, but you have
to know the material. Good Luck!

After reading other books on upgrading to General, I found information within the first few pages here that were not available in other guides and books that proved very helpful. If you are going for the upgrade to General this is the book for you and good luck on your test.

These manuals have been a lifesaver when it comes to studying for and understanding the questions for each class of ham licenses. Thank you for having this available for me. With so many questions and all the unfamiliar aspects of radio transmitting, this manual is the way to go. ESG

Woo-Hoo!! Just passed the Extra Class exam on my first try!! I couldn't have done it without the ARRL license manual. It gives all the info and more that you'll need in order to pass. My only complaint is that the writing and details in places could have been a little clearer, but maybe that's just me. Studying the manual, in addition to taking the QRZ online practice tests did the trick for me.

There's still plenty more I need to learn and understand about radio and electronic theory, but in terms of getting me to the goal of passing the exam I think this book did the trick!
