I love this dictionary - I speak little or no spanish and am attempting to translate a book printed only in Spanish, so between this and a second rate translator, I am learning the language and enjoying the discovery of what the book is saying. A good way to learn - yes?

I find this the handiest reference when I am writing in Spanish. It is much easier to use than the very heavy book edition, and has a lot more features. It will go from Spanish to English with just one click, giving both Spanish to English or English to Spanish references. Also a very nice feature that can be turned off, but I don't know who would want to, is the ability to copy a word to the clipboard, and it then will appear in the dictionary, or you can double-click on a word, and it will also appear. You don't have to use the infinitive of a verb to have the conjugated verb take you to its infinitive. Any conjugated verb will show the infinitive along with the meanings, usage, and idiomatic expressions. For example: This is very handy for verbs like ir, which has a conjugated form of "va". The dictionary itself is extremely comprehensive, and any word within the meaning can be double-clicked to bring up that word in the dictionary. They even have an excellent side program called "RealSpeak" text-to-speech for Spanish that will say a word or phrase in either European-style or Mexican-style Spanish. And if that is not enough, you can make the pronunciation of the word slower or faster, and louder or softer. This CD is a MUST HAVE for anyone that is undertaking the somewhat difficult task of learning Spanish. It is almost like having a professor helping you as you learn. If a person frequently writes in Spanish, it is a must have, especially for its extensive examples of idiomatic expressions, and examples of word usages. I would give it 10 stars, but the maximum allowed is 5!

The Oxford Spanish Dictionary on CD-ROM: Windows Version (CD Rom)This product version is not "Vista" compatable. Ordered/requested the above product in the 3rd edition which is "Vista" compatable without success. Amazon does not carry the 3rd edition.

I have been using the Oxford Spanish dictionary for a few weeks now and find it extremely useful. I am not a linguist, and I discovered it to be a bit more detailed than I had antisipated, but still it has proved to be invalueable. It has helped me find the root words so I can better understand the language. It gives examples of the proper definitions of variables of a particular word so you can know the proper context to use the word. It is going to be a great help in my study of the Spanish language.

Although one couldn't take this dictionary with them, it is incredible. I'm also glad I chose this edition (third) as it's more comprehensive than newer editions.
