Customer Reviews:Average Customer Rating: french dictionary Great French dictionary. Includes grammar and lots of idioms and French culture snips. A must for any serious student of French. All these years using a pocket dictionary was a waste. I should have had this thing and I would have understood a lot more of the French literature I was trying to read. So far, I have found every word I have attempted to look up. The only words you won't find are proper nouns, or probably some Parisian slang won't be in there either. Terrific Dictionary This has been a very useful tool in my french class. It is very detailed and easy to use. Great value for the money. Humongous! Not a pocket dictionary! Pas un dictionnaire de poche!
good for translation This dictionary is too huge to be lugged around for use outside the office or home, but it's a good reference, especially for translation of older texts. It doesn't have enough of the more common present-day idioms; for that, I use wordreference.com. Still, it has enough multiple entries for words that you can usually find some of the more obscure meanings that you need. Big help and fun too This dictionary is even better than I expected from the information provided on Amazon.com. I've known some French since I was a kid, and would rate my ability as intermediate, limited mainly by timidity. I was recently involved in a business situation that required extensive correspondence involving commercial, real estate, and banking terms, as well as internet communication. | | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
