Kaplan gives an extensive glossary in which no discrimination is offered. When the same word or phrase has three or four different translations, there is no explanation whatsoever, either through synonyms in parentheses or explanations, whether using parentheses or not, to distinguish one from the other. The inevitable result will be poor translations.
It does have some value in the sense that a lot of words are included; however, it lends itself to confusion whenever more than one translation is offered, and in many cases only one translation is offered when there are really several translations.
Tom West's Spanish English Dictionary of Law and Business and Diccionario jurídico by Alcaraz Varó and Hughes do a much better job than this glossary with no explanations or usage.
I have been a legal translator / interpreter since 1983 and this is a below average Spanish-English legal dictionary.

Kaplan's English-Spanish/Spanish-English Legal Dictionary is a great time-saving, quality assurance tool that no legal translator can afford not to have. Now that I have it, I regret all the time wasted looking for legal terms at poorer dictiionaries, the Internet, etc., always making a final check in Merriam-Webester's.
Now, there is always room for improvement, and this book is not the exception. I would suggest Mr. Kaplan to try to enrich the work with examples of usage. For instance, under "estrados", add "notificación por estrados", etc. Summary: a great work! Congratulations!
