As I write this review, I am struck by how authentic all of Robin's advice is in the book. I think that this book has sound advice for women seeking to "strike out" on their own, and need solid steps on the 'how' of this process. Every single point she makes hits the nail home for me. I'm grateful for this book as it has given me tangible steps to realize my goal and ensure its alignment with my personal values, vision and mission for my own life.

... and still great, even 9 years later! I'm amazed by how much grounded truth this book has, even nearly a decade after its publication. This tells me it's not a book about trends (just selling you on the "latest and greatest", with soundbytes and cool-sounding speak), but has and will withstand the test of time.

Wait! Stop! Before you say "This book's not for me," let me assure you that the content plays equally well for both men and women. This is a no-nonsense look at self-branding. My favorite quote justifies the basic tenet of self-branding... "If you don't brand yourself, someone else will." See what I mean? This is not namby-pamby stuff.

Celebrity examples (Oprah, Martha, and Madonna) are used to bring clarity to the facets and dimensions that can be used to hone your self-brand. The author tackles the subject of Appearance in depth; including discussion on voicemail messages, websites, and business tools in addition to the expected subjects of attire and office surroundings

This book is great but you gotta be ready to work. It's one of those books full of exercises and things to do to actually help you accomplish each step. I'm still in the process :)

When I first opened this book I thought someone had been snooping on me. Robin Roffer's ideas about core values and authentic promotion of "you" are beautifully aligned with what many personal branding and professional coaches preach. And I am no exception. Yet, she did it in a way that was pure fun to experience! Her exercises are easy to follow and easy to implement. I have shared this book with many clients and would recommend it to anyone - woman OR man who wants a position in life that is noticed and that comes from real goals and real vision.

Not only is this book a great tool for any woman in a business setting, but the motivational content is indispensable for anyone who desires personal success as well. The reading is easy to understand, applicable to daily living and includes interesting insights.
