Given GPS you don't actually need it to navigate anymore, you need it to understand how navigation works. It is the raw data that predicts the position of the sun, moon , major planets and important stars for every minute of the year. He gets one every year. The book was delivered very quickly and in great shape. Foolproof Naviation Customer Rating: Essential annual purchase for blue water sailors who want celestial navigation as a foolproof back-up or alternative to electronic GPS. Excellent Reference! Customer Rating: I try to get one of these every few years to practice celestial navigation using just it as the reference. Living in southwest a long from bodies of water makes such practice challenging.
