| Summaries and Customer Reviews are supplied by Amazon.com | Discover the hidden culprit behind the 'middle-age spread'--and the simple plan that's helped hundreds of women over 30 break the fat cycle!
It's an all-too-common problem once you hit thirty: Despite your best efforts, you just can't seem to lose the extra weight around your middle, and you look in the mirror wondering what month and year you lost your waistline. Medical research proves you're not alone--that the average American gains one to two pounds a year after age thirty--usually around the stomach. Not only does this excess belly fat make you look and feel bad, it's the most damaging kind of fat; a precursor to heart attacks and certain types of cancer.
To the contrary of other diet books, C.W. Randolph, M.D., a champion for women's health, explains that the real reason behind this problem has less to do with calories, carbs, or crunches and everything to do with a little-known but very real medical problem called 'estrogen dominance.' By treating thousands of women safely and effectively for over two decades, Dr. Randolph has discovered why we are in the midst of an estrogen epidemic and how you can save your waistline . . . and your health . . . using his 3-step plan comprised of an anti-estrogenic diet, natural progesterone supplementation, and exercise. You'll learn:
-How to self-diagnose estrogen dominance -The top ten belly-blasting foods that jump-start weight loss and maintain hormone balance -How your sleep patterns, exercise habits, and stress levels impact your hormone levels -Which vitamins and supplements support, not sabotage, your overall hormone balance
The result? Well within four weeks you'll lose pounds and inches… and reveal the flat belly--and the health and vitality that go along with it. | Average Customer Rating: FROM FAT BELLY FAT TO BELLY FLAT A very interesting instant guide to why you cant budge those bulges and spare tyres, something I've been unsuccessful at for a long time now in spite living on a minimalist diet and trying to eat as much of the recommended healthy foods.
The idea that the cause could be hormonal attracted me instantly to this book and was placed high on my "must read list".
Entirely scientifically and medically plausible explanations of why your fat won't budge without the laborious explanations and tasks of calculating calories, Body Mass Index (BMI) and worrying about doing the mandatory daily grind of grunt and sweat impressed me from the moment I started reading the first chapter. The guide to the correct foods to eat to correct the real cause for being overweight and fat is clear and concise.
You don't have to be a scientist or medically trained to appreciate the subject matter of this book but a scientific minded person will immediately appreciate the rationale behind this fat busting program. Sleep better, no weight loss. Be careful if high BP I was so excited to find this book, it made so much sense. I'd tried everything with little success to lose weight, of course I also had been taking synthetic hormones for 15 years and Beta blockers for high blood pressure. But, I was so enthused I immediately purchased their progesterone and estrogen lotions and purchased the recommended supplements.
First, the good. Once I had their creams I stopped synthetic hormones one day and went on the creams the next. I never felt a twinge, plus I began sleeping better for the first time in years. So, I highly recommend Dr. Randolph's creams. (Previously when I tried to stop synthetics I developed the equivalent of "PMS-run-wild", so I always went back on.)
As for the supplements, I began taking them all and my BP went up. I called the Institute to ask if there could be any interaction with blood pressure, but I received no response. So, I backed off and started again taking one supplement, then adding another, etc. It appears the 7-Keto caused the problem, so I cut the pills in half.
After 5 months I was sleeping better (I believe it's the hormones, not the supplements) but hadn't lost an ounce, in fact I'd gained a pound. Thinking I must have a really screwy metabolism, I decided to sign up for their saliva hormone test and evaluation. The lab they used sent a very good report with recommendations, however I was disappointed in Dr. Randolph's staff's evaluation. The young lady I spoke with did not have, thus had not looked at and evaluated the extensive questionaire I filled out for the lab, nor had she seen the thyroid test results I'd faxed from a recent physical. Basically she parroted the book's recommendation on supplements. I got no new information except to try gradually increasing the 7-Keto and the statement "it takes time." Having spent $250 for the lab test and evaluation, I was right back were I started. Randolph's group gave me no new information unless I came to Jacksonville, Fl and saw Dr. Randolph as a patient. (I do not fault the lab, their report was more useful than the Institute's "evaluation.")
Well, I've been at this for 5+ months. I sleep much better but no weight improvement. Anyone with high blood pressure should certainly be careful. I recommend Dr. Randolph's hormone creams for anyone wanting to painlessly get off synthetics, but I'm not sure about the rest of the stuff. Of course, I may have a very different metabolism.
Finally, the disclaimer on all of these medical books to "consult your physician" is worthless. Few medical schools stress drug interactions, much less interactions with herbs and vitamins. My doctor, whom I love, told me he didn't have a clue. He didn't put it that way, but I knew what he meant and respected his honesty.
I'm going to give it a few more months (use up all of those supplements!) but if there's no improvement by then, I'll stop the supplements and hopefully can taper off hormones all together with the creams. I'll report back if I start losing weight! Straight Talk about Belly Fat This book is written in a straight forward manner. He calls it what it is:FAT. Without blame or insult, Dr Randolph explains the cause and discusses a practical solution. I have been to at least 6 Doctors for this problem and get no real help. Dr. Randolph gets it and how to fix the fat. I recommend this book. A must have. This is another great flat belly book that can help you to lose that weight around your tummy. I, like many others, have found this near impossible and reading this book and implementing its ideas has helped tremendouoly. A high recommend, along with Flat Belly Diet! Cookbook. Valuable advice I think some of the reviewers are missing the point. I read the book, and I never took it to be a "diet" book full of promises. It explains the reasons why hormones affect various aspects of our bodies.
Women should be more upset that they are being lied to and given fake hormone replacement therapy and try the bio-identical hormones. Hormones are changing our bodies and our childrens bodies. Look around at girls 7 and 8 years old starting their periods. This isn't normal. This book tells of ways to avoid unnatural hormones and protect yourself against cancer...even if you don't lose pounds, you could save your life.
Also, I never felt pushed to order anything from the doctor. The appendix gives sources for the products mentioned. I bought my progesterone cream at a local nutrition store. If you only follow some of the advice given in the book I think you will gain better health and decrease estrogen dominance. | |
