Customer Reviews: great after work recipes I really like the book because I work and am always looking for recipes that don't require a lot of prep time. This book was a lifesaver. I am able to prepare a wonderful dinner in a short amount of time. I also follow the Weight Watchers program and it was easy to translate the recipe into a points system. A friend of mines son recently was diagnosed with diabetes and this is a wonderful cookbook for her as well. Easy, breezy, delicious, and fun I was lucky and found this book for $3 at a second-hand bookstore. I just made my first recipe from this book today, the Stir Fry on page 97. I can't afford top sirloin beef, which it calls for, so I used 85% lean ground beef (drained the fat after cooking, then even rinsed it in cold water, to further rid the meat of fat). I would recommend using less than one pound of ground beef -- I think I used too much. I used the white rice I had at home, and just cooked the suggested three cups' worth; it makes no sense buying a boil in bag rice product. You don't get much, and it's so not cost effective. The book's lists of ingredients and instructions were great! Very easy to follow. I thought the overall taste of the stir fry was just ok. But that very well could have been due to how I cooked things, perhaps because I barely thawed the veggies before stir frying them. I'm likely going to experiment some more with this recipe, especially, and add some sriracha sauce (the bottle with the rooster on it -- YUM) next time; I'm a big hot and spicy food fan, and this dish was pretty plain (to ME). Whatever the case, I will definitely try this recipe again, along with as many of the others as I can. I've read such great reviews, and won't throw in the towel on this book just yet. Everything looks delicious, and seems quite healthy. Wonderful Family Meals in Minutes!!!!! I loved this cookbook!!! I have tried 8 recipes so far and it was the best thing I have ever purchased! I lost 6 pounds in one week just eating recipes from this book. The foods are great, but best of all it is normal food - foods you eat most of the time, not foods that you cannot pronounce. It has really good recipes in it and I would recommend it to anyone. I talked my mother in law into getting one and she LOVES hers too. The recipes will either be 5 ingredients, 15 minutes or both. There are never more than 10 ingredients to make the meals - so its fast, tastes great, healthy and cost efficient. I am going to buy another one for my vacation home - this is truly a great buy!! You will not regret it. love it this concept is great for working moms who want to stay in shape by counting their food points or calories. It's an oldy book goody as far as recipes go. Fast, Healthy and Great for Lotsa Kids! I have 5 little kids, but I'm either lucky or I've taught them (not sure which) to eat a variety of fresh foods. Despite having just about everything Cooking Light has published, I use this one the most (like probably 4 nights/week. It may be "dump and stir," but the meals are fresh, hot and healthy.
