Customer Reviews:Average Customer Rating: Good for the beginner This book is excellent for beginners, but some may find it a little too basic. If you already have some experience with a DAW, you may want a different book. However, if you are just starting out and have no idea what a compressor does, or why your monitors may create a standing wave in your studio, then this may be the book for you. I found it to be helpful, but much of the material was too basic to be of much use. Covers general concepts and processes If you're looking for a 'roadmap' of how to master, this book will guide you. If you're looking for specific settings, 'fixit's, or a quick, easy, way to create quality masters, this book is not for you. A pretty good overview about mastering. Mitch always delivers great products. He has a writing style that is informative without bogging you down with jargon. Mastering is one of the "mystery arts" of the recording process. This book does a pretty good job explaining what exactly mastering is and how to go about doing it. This is the step that most home recording artist fail to do before uploading their stuff on the internet. If you want your music to sound like it does on cd's and radio, then you need to master it. Useful A lot of specific coverage for those who want to have the mastering job done at home, useful hints and good audio examples and tutorials. This book is a waste of money Unless you have ZERO background in sound reenforcement, live sound, or home/studio recording, this book will provide no information of value to you. It's also poorly organized and indexed and doesn't provide the reader with easily navigable and usable content. | | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
