Well worth the price. Excellent reference for the amateur radio operator or anyone in the commmunications field. The accompanying CD makes searching a breeze. I bought it for home, but I have used it as a reference and teaching tool for my coworkers as well. Now, how to keep it from going missing in the lab....

I have bought many of these handbooks over th last 50 years. This one ,however, is the best edition I have ever seen -- and it is a hardback book, not a soft cover ss were all the others I own except one. I think the ARRL has outdone itself in both the compilation of the 2010 edition, and Amazon free shipping made it even nicer. [...]

This is a comprehensive technical data book for amateur radio operators. It covers all aspects of radio and electronics for the amateur operator. It could be refered to as the bible for electronics and radio operation. I find it a rapid and easy to use reference for all of my questions concerning radio operation and electronics in general.

Having spent just a tad too much on equipment in 2008, I had reached the point where spending another 40+ dollars for another book just felt overwhelming.The 2005 edition is an updated version of previous publications and it also has the book on CD included. I picked up mine used for $15 and it was a great value.

I have been involved in the hobby for less than a year and am a non-technical person. This book is a real work of art for what I would call a "technical user" or "technician". The manual is a superb desk referance.
However, for the greenhorn, ARRL has other books that are written at a more simple level and there is also a "Dummies" title that is a pretty good book in spite of the heavy overlap with "Now You're Talking".
There is content on antenna installation and principals that even newbies can understand, but again, ARRL has some titles that are targeted toward this need.
