I am in a class that requires this book, and let me just let everyone aware that this book is not a true text book. For those that are new to this field, this is one tough book to start with. I wish my school would select a different book.

My problems with this book as a new student trying to learn power analysis:
1- No step-by-step methods: it goes from setup of a problem to the answer.
2- Unfriendly examples: you get examples that were already explained within the reading.
3- No appendix that has formulas or basic information: since this is not a text book, this problem just shows that in a textbook you have them and here they are not included.
4- Jumps into the supject: This is assuming that you know everything by heart before going into detailed subjects.


For what this book is, I am sure it does it well - for those that are in the industry and want a supplement to help your daily needs, then this might be fine. For those that are new students in the power engineering/ electrical engineering that want a book to learn from, I advise to look for an honest text book.

This book is excellent! All main aspects about power systems are analyzed in a detailed way. I suggest this book to all that are concerned with analysis of Power Systems.

This book is a must in the workplace for Power Engineers as just touching this book thrusts a consuming amount of knowledge into your cellular brain matter. It starts off with the basics and continues with transformers, stability, symmetrical components, models, etc. It's all covered here...

I used this book for my Modern Power Systems class while I was in my senior year as an Electrical Engineer. Before taking the class, I was co-oping for a local power company, so I had a pretty good understanding of Power Systems before heading into the class. And boy was I thankful for that!

If I hadn't know a lot of the material covered in this book, I would have been confused and mislead. There is a lot of information conatined in this book, but I feel like it is very confusing and poorly displayed for the beginning student. There aren't enough clear cut examples of how to perform calculations and it would have been a huge help to have numerical answers provided for the review questions.

All-in-all, this is a good reference book if you already understand power system basics, but I wouldn't recommend using it for an undergraduate textbook. If you know what to look for, you can find it, but if you are totally clueless, use another book.

It's been well over a month and I never received my order. I emailed the seller (Splendidbooks) and they never responded. What a terrible experience!
