We built our first house, and I wanted to do a lot of the work myself. To do the wiring, I first read every book I could find. This was one of the two I ended up purchasing for myself for reference because it had everything I needed. (The other was a code book.)

This is now one of my favorite authors. Not only does he know his technical details, he is excellent at explaining them as well. Very, very good.

I'm not sure how good this book would be for someone who doesn't understand the basics of electricity. I already had a good background in that, so I'm not a good judge there.

We've lived in our house since 2001 with no electrical problems as of this writing, so this is definitely a good book.

This book makes it sooo easy to understand basic wiring for a residence.I'm doing the electrical on our new house and this book answered all my questions about wire size / box size / breaker size / panel size..... And the "ABOVE CODE" suggestions are a must to follow. The reasoning behind these suggestions is priceless. Its the only book you'll need for wiring your home. Buy with confidence.

I just wrote a bad review about "Foundations" so I figures I better review some of Taunton Press's good books. This is one of my favorites. It is a very good in depth book. I will not go into all the great info, as there are already 80-odd reviews which probably cover it. I will say, they are correct. Great book. Don't buy some crappy Black and Decker book for the same price, you'll be disappointed.
