Customer Reviews:Average Customer Rating: Best Welding book out there! I have Tig,,Mig, Gas welders and a Plasma torch. finding all the info in one place has been a quest up to this book. I had the first edition and this is far improved. If you weld for a hobby or just once in a while, this book gets your memory up to speed in a hurry. Great set up info for jobs. Excellent ! I love this book. I got what I wanted I set out to learn a little about welding. I didn't need an intense course on the matter and just wanted to get some general concepts of the technique. From the first few chapters, I was able to see that the author was knowledgeable about the subject and that the reading was easy to comprehend. For me the book offered more than what I needed from it, so it's worth the 5 stars. I wish I had passed I got a new MIG welder and had no experience welding so I thought a book would help. Well one might, but not this one. I figured a handbook would instruct on making basic joints and take you through some examples but it doesn't. There are lots of pictures of welded things, but no real instruction. I think you can learn much more for free just browsing the internet. OK, but plenty of room for improvement I was disappointed in this book. There is not really enough basic information to give the reader confidence in tackling some of the welding types described. There is far too much self-patronization throughout the text, which gets a bit monotonous after a while, and pads out the book with useless material. Do we really care if the author worked for NASA ? I bought the book to learn about welding, not about the authors achievements in the welding world. There is also too much plugging of Lincoln equipment, even the same photo repeated on the same page, and very little of which is helpful to the beginner. I am particularly interested in MIG welding, and thought the chapter on this subject was too short. If I was looking for a beginners book on welding, I would look elsewhere. | | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
