Customer Reviews:Average Customer Rating: Helpful How tos! Sound helpful advice for the Homeschool when weary or facing burnout! Gain a fresh perspective or just be reminded of the harvest yet to be seen! If you're thinking about homeschooling... Read this book! The first portion of this book is really about what needs to be in place in your home to homeschool--like taking care of your home, having discipline, love, and respect in your home, and being on the same page with your husband. I lent this book to a friend who was thinking about homeschooling, but she appreciated the author's encouragement not to push it if your husband isn't on board with homeschooling. Homeschooling really requires everyone in the family to be on board! The remainder of the book is great because it gives encouraging strategies about how to cope with a lot of the challenges of homeschooling. As a Christian mom of 3, I love this book and it was just what I needed when I read it! NOT for homeschoolers who aren't Fundamentalist Christian While the author gives some valid ideas of how to balance homeschooling and other life commitments, she does so entirely in the context of Fundamental Christianity. DON'T read this book if you don't care to hear about how you should "submit to your husband's authority" or "make your home a haven for your husband" or be reminded to "pick up the toys and books before your husband comes home". While reading, I momentarily forgot the current year is NOT 1950. The Fundamentalist Christian overtones distracted greatly from several effective strategies she outlined. One of the best books out there for the harried homeschool. I love this book. Christine field has a way of making homeschool seem like a cool breeze and something that doesn't have to be worriesome.Lots of encouragement can be gleened from this book. It helped this harried homeschooler This book is very well written. The organization is superb, the ideas fresh and practical and the humor engaging. I really like the author's writing style and the personal stories she shares. She covers a wide variety of topics and actually gets down into them, instead of mentioning that they exist and wishing you the best at figuring it out. I came away feeling like a) I wasn't alone, b) I could do this because c) the book gave a lot of wonderful advice and how to apply it. | | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
