Customer Reviews:Average Customer Rating: RtI review This book is very user friendly and a relatively quick read. It outlines the process of Response to Intervention. It includes a chapter on each of the three tiers of instruction. I am an Intervention/Reading Specialist at the primary level. My district recently implemented the RtI process. I found this book very helpful in clarifying my understanding and as a resource to share with classroom teachers who are learning the process as well as their critical role in tier 1 instruction. This book would be helpful to inservice and preservice educators. Additionally, there are questions at the back of the book regarding each chapter. If the book was being used by a group these question would be great for professional dialogue. Incredible Resource for teachers and parents alike As a parent of four boys, I like to research the programs that our district implements. Although I am not a trained educator, I found this book to have extremely valuable information for parents as well. It is well written, easy to follow, and includes very progressive ideas. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting more information on RTI. I bought one to share with our elementary teachers. They raved about it! If you are an educator/administrator/support person, you need this book! As a school psychologist, I understand the need for resources like Mary Howard provides with this book. She takes RTI and all of its inherent complications and makes it understandable and functional for everyday implementation in schools. This book has been extremely beneficial in helping me to conceptualize how to employ tiered strategies with all levels of learners. If I had only one RTI resource, this would be it! Finally a book on RTI by an author who is willing to "say it like it is!" Mary cautions against using scripted programs that sound good and take many things into consideration...... EXCEPT the individual needs of the children. I love the quote, "If the time and energy used to promote scripts were spent on training reading teachers, I have no doubt we would make remarkable gains." One amazing book with insight on what everyone should know!! This is an amazing and well written book. This is the first book I have come across that gives me all the information I need to know. It is amazing, well written and gives you everything you would need to know. I have gone to one of Dr. Mary Howard's seminars and this book is no surprise because she is an amazing and talented writer as well as presenter. This is a must have... | | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
