Customer Reviews:Average Customer Rating: Wonderful Tool Not only did our boy love this book, but it was uplifting for his parents as well! why this book lost two stars I'd have given this book five stars, if not for the title's seriously fractured English. Calling its subjects "autism heroes" reeks of the same depersonalized nonsense we would produce if we called President Obama a "blackness man" or labeled Julie Andrews a "musicality woman." Real Encouragement for Parents With Autistic and Asperger Kids and Autistic and Asperger People! This book sure gives a lot of hope to any kinds of autistic people; it shows us all the people mentioned in this book turned out to be successful although they weren't always good at fitting in. Simply put, they were differently-abled, not mentally retarded at all. I guess that's mainly because they had different sort of talents nobody else had ever thought of. I know there are still biased people against mental illness and impairments. However, I'd like them to deal with this book to think twice about mental or developmental challenges. one of my favorite books It was hard to explain to my 8-year old daughter with Aspergers how wonderfully her mind works. How people with minds like hers have changed history and done many wonderful things that would be hard for neurotypical people to do. This book gave concrete examples I could show her. We read this book frequently. Everyone with Aspergers should read it... Amazing. This book is AMAZING. Many of these people were around long before the autism diagnoses could be given to them (Lewis Carroll, Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton... etc...), but the book fully supports the idea that they did have it. This book isn't just for elementary-school aged children, either. Adults can even read it. Its absolutely wonderful. | | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
