Customer Reviews:Average Customer Rating: Good Reference Book This is a quick reference with a lot of ideas in a small book. I would recommend this to any teacher who is looking for strategies to use with children with Sensory issues or learning disabilities. Just OK I am a Pediatric Developmental Therapist and a mom. One of my children has Sensory Integration issues and I was looking for a way to help explain those issues to his preschool teacher. I feel this book is most appropriate for teachers who are looking to identify kids who they think have sensory problems. Over half the book is checklists for teachers. I wanted more explanation on what SID is and how to help children. Isn't that basically what we need? For people to understand what SID is and how to help the children impacted by it to function, learn and grow to the best of their ability. I also felt there was a lack of suggestions on how to get "optimal learning" from kids with SID. Most of the suggestions were geared towards older kids - "help the janitor," "carry copy paper from the storage closet to the office." Most 4 year-olds I know have a hard time doing those activities without supervision. There was some explanation about SID and some in-classroom exercises. It was just OK. Great Book! I have children with Sensory Motor and am in Special Ed. I really liked this book as it explains how to be a kid with this disorder. Answers to questions Teachers Ask about Sensory Intergration In Australia very little is known about Sensory Perception Disorder so I was delighted when I saw this book on Amazon...it is excellent and I have donated this to the school where my grandson goes to help the teachers understand about Sensory Perception Disorder. I can recommend this to parents, grand parents and teacher for further reading about SPD. Answers to Questions Teachers Ask About Sensory Intergration Costly little booklet so make photo copies for yourself and use the book like the master. Helpful when you have to "educate" the educator about your child each new school year. Not a waste but use it wisely to save having to buy it again and again. | | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
