We were asked to read this book when we started our practicum. This is the single most helpful book I've come across as a student in counseling psych. While other books just tell you what to do, this one has really good vignettes to help you understand things and put them to use. I still use mine as a reference at times. I highly recommend this book if you're a beginner in the field of counseling/psychotherapy, regardless of your therapeutic orientation.
