Summaries and Customer Reviews are supplied by Amazon.com

Summary:

By examining traditional logistics issues within the context of the supply chain, this text captures the current trends in Supply Chain Management and Supply Chain Strategy. "Supply Chain Logistics Management" provides a solid foundation that clearly describes the role of logistics within the supply chain, portraying a complete view of the subject and extending to show how all the pieces fit together.

I typically don't review books, but after seeing these reviews I just had to chime in. I think I took the same class as GPP and agree, it is a hard read. There must be several books out there (Perhaps Lean Distribution by Zylstra) that can teach you just as much but with more down to earth wording. The text example in the review by J. Jericho pretty much sums it up.

Sorry if your taking a class that uses this one

This book is an incredibly hard read. The program that I took used this book and even the instructor said it sucked. Those of us already in the industry use much more complex methods and they are explained way more simply than this mass of words.

The descripton was accurate, the pricing reasonable and the service fast. No problems, no hassles.

Excellent

Product was delivered ontime and in excellent condition. I will buy books from this retailer again.

An awfully boring read
Customer Rating:  Score = 1 Score = 1 Score = 1 Score = 1 Score = 1

I used this text for a university management course, and had a horrible time learning from the book; the writing style is so elaborate and dry, it put me in a coma. For example, here is a "gem" from pages 9 & 10:
"One could argue that the challenges and benefits of integrative management offered sufficient reason for the supply chain revolution. However, other basic drivers continue to make supply chain arrangements even more appealing. A fundemental paradigm shift in strategic thinking occured as a direct impact of information technology. Information connectivity creates the potential for developing responsive business models. To elaborate the far-reaching implications of this major development, it is useful to contrast traditional or anticipatory business practice to the emerging time-based responsive business model."
The writers of this double-talk are issuing a new edition, and i hope professors don't adopt it for the sake of their students' sanity.
