As appointed leaders or simply coworkers, these individuals seemed to possess an energy that rubbed off on others. Jeff Evans explores the basic elements of human nature and physiological drivers to explain how we affect others through our presence. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking to lead and inspire others.
"Inspirational Presence" builds nicely from Jeff's previous book "The Ten Tasks of Change" co-authored with Chuck Schaefer. Change and leadership, as Jeff points out, are intertwined since you rarely lead people to where they already are. His style fits well with my way of learning: he states a proposition, explains it, gives examples, then moves on to the consequences of the stated proposition. And within these consequences is another proposition, and on he goes. It should capture your attention and interest and be easy to follow.
The last several chapters are packed with valuable lessons and, for me, required some re-reading. He does offer a video supplement that can help. In any case, since one of the crucial elements of book emphasizes knowing oneself, the reader must have a trusted partner to obtain feedback.
It's leadership for the social media generation Social media is about listening to customers, delivering what they want and being human in business.
Inspirational Presence is about taking that warm and fuzzy idea and giving it the strength of vibrant, dynamic leadership. Imagine a manager with the strength to lead, the courage to be human, and the sense to care about who she's leading.
