Customer Reviews:Average Customer Rating: Awesome Book! Great Book! I recommend this book to anyone who's in need of any help of some great advise to future HR professionals! Essential, Elegant and Easy to Access If you are a new or seasoned manager(supervisor, etc.) this could be a required handbook for you. Unlike trucks which beep as they back up, warning you that there coming your way and a crash may be imminent, most human resource issues come out of the blue. In addition, to further complicate things many times there may be a time crunch creating a sense of urgency and a need for an answer now. In situations like this, The Essential HR Handbook is incredibly useful as the information is concise, relevant and easy to access. Finally, for those times when your human resource classes seem almost like a figment of your imagination, this book can provide the information to make your day flow without any "beeping" along the way. Denise Woods HR For Dummies For small business owners and or initial students of HR practices, this book is an essential reference guide. It clearly lays out all the traps and stumbling blocks so that you can either do something about them or connect with a professional to get you through them. In my office, this book is easily within my reach. Quick Desk Reference This book is a great, handy desk reference for managers and other employees concerned with human resource matters. I can grab the book to quickly get grounded, refresh my memory, or reinforce my thinking on a topic. The chapters are short and to the point. If I want to know more, there's a Suggested Reading section. The appendix was a nice surprise. It has various sample documents, such as a preemployment application form and statement, offer letter, job description, and performance appraisal form. There's even a list of relevant Federal labor laws according to size of the business.
