Summary:

"Never started a company before? Struggling with little or no cash? Have no experience, no baseline to judge your progress against? Thank God! You've got a shot at making this work." So says Mike Michalowicz, author of The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur, a business book that is so uniquely useful, so raw and entertaining, it reads like the brainchild of Steve Jobs and Chris Rock.

The founder of three multimillion-dollar companies, including Obsidian Launch, a company that partners with first-time entrepreneurs to grow their concepts into industry leaders, Mike Michalowicz knows what it really takes to spin your great idea into pure gold.

Whether you're just starting out or have been at this for years, Mike's "get real" approach to business is a much-needed swift kick in the pants. In this book, you'll discover:
* Why a business plan is a total waste of your time.
* Why fulfilling your own needs is the first and last order of business.
* Which three sheets of paper you need to successfully launch, manage and grow your business.
* How to get started in business with little or no money.
* How to find and exploit resources that no one else knows about.
* How to stop procrastinating and take action NOW!

This book is one of the best books I've read on how to build a business - successfully. I highly recommend it to those who (1) are contemplating starting their own business or (2) already are an entrepreneur and want to take their business to the next level. I read it twice - once all the way through and the second time did the recommended exercises. BRAVO!

A must read for every entrepreneur

Mike's knowledge of the buisness world and his wit make for an informative and interesting book.
Not the run of the mill dry text, Mike shows how to examine your dream/passion of creating your own business, gives indepth strategies, and pretty much askes... "How hard are you willing to work for YOU?"
My copy has sentences underlined in red pencil, hi-lighted paragraphs and ideas written in the margins. I find my self re-reading chapters so that his message really sinks in. As a small business owner, I'm thrilled that I discovered this book.

Thanks Mike!

Love it.

I have read a lot of books on business and entrepreneurship for my own business and wish I would have read this earlier! It covers a lot of ideas and all of the points that I have questioned or still do. I would recommend this to anyone starting a business and of course has a good sense of humor. I want Mike Michalowicz to write another!

Great advice for anyone trying to start a business.

I loved this book. It gives so many ideas on getting a small business going without having lots of money. He shows how you can market yourself on a shoestring. He addresses all aspects of starting a business and covers ways to get the job done without lots of money or lots of help -- how to make your idea work when YOU is all you've got. I liked that there were many tips through the book that are highlighted so I can quickly refer back to them for inspiration and refresher information. Mike has a lot of experience and success and does a great job of sharing it with us in a straight forward easy tone.

Useful
Customer Rating:  Score = 4 Score = 4 Score = 4 Score = 4 Score = 4

This is an easy read book on starting up a small business. It sometimes gets too shallow and maybe below, but overall I found the book quite useful for anyone contemplating starting up a new venture. I particularly liked the author's views on giving away shares to partners/brothers, importance of passion in business success, alternative sources of raising initial capital and setting up a reserve account. Being both an academic and a successful entrepreneur, I thought that these issues -which were very important in my past also- are neglected topics in business literature, despite their enormous importance. Even these advices alone make the book worth reading by a potential entrepreneur.
