Its just a lot of thrown together stories about how to HUSSLE. Not a serious book. Re-hashed from sayings, old business motivation books, and some scam conferences he attended. Do not waste your money. Get a Robert Ringer book instead.

Fantastic, one of the most influential books I've ever read. Tim's writing is clear, insightful and grounded in a reality that I personally am hungry to live inside.

Shallow, partially fake and blatantly unrealistic. The only person who really seems to lead the 4 hour workweek is the author himself. And he can do that because it is you who buys the book. Self-fulfilling prophecy from a hyped-up author.
If the author like described is really teaching at Princeton University our country is in deep trouble.
Books like these follow a great business model: a self proclaimed 'genius', small price, lots of airport sales, lots of hype on the net. Almost all of these little books contain just fluff and catchphrases. Most of it is untrue as well.
The fake reviews (look at how many 5 star reviews..) do the rest.
It's time we call it as it is.

You first have survive 50 pages of the authors immature, narcissistic and egoistic ranting about creating enough cash flow to enable endless travel. Without a thought for being a useful member of a work group or doing something worth while with your time. Yawn. Towards the end the book actually gets quite good and you learn useful ways of working more effectively. And for spotting snakeoil salesmen like Timothy Ferris.

My personal opinion of the book... I'm really not that smitten with it. Don't get me wrong, there are some great ideas in the book. The main idea is you outsource all the work and you enjoy your free time to do as you please.

I have two criticisms with this book. The first is that I think its over doing the outsourcing a bit. But, that's a personal preference. I like to be a part of my projects and I outsource the parts that I'm not good at or that I know will just get done a million times faster by someone else.

My second criticism is probably also a personal preference, but it is one I feel strongly about. This talks about outsourcing to overseas providers to take advantage of the super low rates you can get. We're talking less than $5 per hour rates. Yes, it's a great deal, yes it fits into almost any budget, but it's not something I'm comfortable with.

In my opinion if you want to live the good life here in the USA ... why not support others that want to do the same? Having lost not 1, not 2, but 3 very good jobs in my lifetime because companies decided to offshore their workload this is the kind of thing that just really irks me to no end. It's part of the reason I work from home, for myself, making a living my way. I don't like it, I don't want to be a part of it, and it bothered me to the point where I honestly never even finished reading the whole book.

Now, please don't misunderstand me. I'm not against working cooperatively with people in other countries. I work with people on a daily basis that are from Canada, Australia, and England. However, we all work for fair rates and we work together as a team to meet a specific business minded goal.

The internet makes the whole world your office.... I just think there are certain lines we need to draw in the sand. Taking advantage of those that live in other countries isn't my idea of a good business deal. Just because someone in India will work for less than 10 dollars a day doesn't mean it's the best fit for your needs, it just means it's the most affordable fit!

If you're getting ready to outsource a project to free up some time to do other things for your business, please take the time to find and hire the best person or team to meet your business needs ... no matter where they live.
