Customer Reviews:Average Customer Rating: technical analysis for the beginner investor John Murphy's "The Visual Investor" is an introduction to technical analysis for the stock investor. Extremely Dissapointed I expected this book to be about new ways to visually assess charts, something Very helpful This book helps give a general perspective on how to use graphical tools to make financial decisions. I have used the principles to improve my investing. Technical Analysis 101 This is the book to buy if you are interested in learning about technical analysis of stocks and commodities. This book goes so far as to rename it visual analysis to make it more clearly understood. What this type of trading is doing is basing trading decisions off of measuring price action and volume, with the purpose being to buy stocks at a profit during trends, trend reversals, and off of support and seeing when to sell short into resistance. It shows how to read chart patterns and how to use moving averages to identify trends. You will learn the basics of using oscillators like MACD, stochastics, and Histograms. This book also will get you familiar with RSI and how to measure momentum. I found this book to be the clearest explanation of technical analysis I have seen. I wish it was one of the first books I had read on the subject and not the 100th. Very useful for beginners but experienced traders will likely find it far to basic. The Visual Investor: How to Spot Market Trends (Wiley Trading) (Hardcover) A top drawer writer of Technical Analysis reaching out to all levels of intellect. John Murphy makes some startling revelations about the elusive stock market. I recommend this text to the students that take my course in "Stock Market Trading." | | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
