This is the third year I've purchased this desk calendar. It's been the only one I can find with a week that begins on Sunday, and that's kind of important to me. I'm not Jewish, though I have deep appreciation of the Jewish faith. But I love the gorgeous photos of various works of Jewish art - from antique pieces right up through modern art paintings. The photos are - like the rest of the calendar - high quality. These calendars hold up well, have plenty of room for writing each day's activities, and are such a joy to browse through for the art, too. I wholeheartedly recommend The Jewish Calendar (engagement calendar)! Not as nice as previous years I used to buy this calendar every year, but won't do it again without seeing it. This year's has more pictures, but the paper is not nearly as nice, and the lack of the fold-over front and back covers removes the handy "bookmark" feature it used to have. The photos of art this year are not as well-done, and sort of haphazardly thrown onto the pages. I'd rather return to the well selected, fewer photos, on thicker stock with the nicer cover, than have more photos and less quality. Jewish Calendar I love this calendar. have been using it for more than ten years. I like the size, the format and that I have all the Jewish holidays right on my calendar! The Jewish Calendar The Jewish Calendar 2009-2010 Engagement The Jewish Engagement Calendar series I have been purchasing The Jewish Calendar since 2008. I cannot wait until September or October each year to order mine. I keep my older copies for the beautiful photos. This is not a wall calendar, but an engagement calendar. The photos are from the B'Nai B'rith Klutznick National Jewish Museum. It is published by Universe. Every month is given in English as well as in Hebrew. Each day of the week has the regular calendar date on the left hand side and the Jewish date on the right hand side. Each calendar page has one week and the opposite page has a photo. Actually, there is one photo for about every two calendar pages. Each photo has a description on the side of the opposite page. Jewish holidays are carefully pointed out including the Torah and Haphtarah readings. Shabbat candle lighting times are included for the whole year for Jerusalem as well as ten other locations. Jewish holidays are carefully noted. While it is true that some of the photos are of more modern artifacts (which I do not care much about), others are magnificent beauties. I am quite a fan of this engagement calendar series. I had not planned to write this review until I was shocked to see someone had given the engagement calendar one star. I give it five. | | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
