| Summaries and Customer Reviews are supplied by Amazon.com Literally working from head to toe, the images in this essential guide to glamour photography demonstrate how to flatter models’ assets and downplay any perceived flaws when there is no clothing to hide behind. Detailed instructions on recreating classic poses and a thorough discussion of the three main sections of the body—upper body, lower body, and backside—are coupled with ample photographic examples. Abundant illustrations reveal how to manipulate a model’s tresses, garner the best possible views of the face, and visually enhance the appearance of the breasts, arms, abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, calves, feet, and toes. Best-practice techniques for maximizing curves and minimizing bulk will make each subject look her personal best. Because of the intimate nature of nude and semi-nude photo shoots, suggestions for easing into the shoot while staying on task and ensuring a subject’s comfort are also discussed. | Average Customer Rating: Now this is how you create a book on photography I am a motivated amateur photographer and I really appreciate the way Rolando sets the subject forth.
There is a plethora of well diagramed examples and pictures of the various subjects he covers. Sure, there must be written commentary but it supports the examples rather than tries to carry the material all by itself.
As I didn't know the basics of posing, shot design and composition in this genre, this work provides that. From those very clear examples I have been able to work obliquely and create new work.
Of course the models and pictures are gorgeous and very easy on the eyes.
I highly recommend this work for those like myself: You don't know. You understand you don't know. But want to know. Great book, great techniques! If you are an experienced model photographer obviously this book isn't for you. But, for me... someone who has only been doing this for a couple of years the experience from this author has given me a greater potential. I purchased this book in hopes to at least gather a couple new techniques and ways to pose my models and it does just that. Great book, thanks for the information! Needs better text The content of this book is great, but the USEFUL caption text that accompanies each picture (that gives the settings etc...) is embedded in the graphic at such a small size that it is unreadable on the Kindle.
Get this one in print, not on the Kindle, if you are the least bit interested in how he sets up shots. Idiotic errors and omissions; asinine design In essence, it is a handbook on how to do the cliched poses that virtually always work, even on less than perfect models. This is not a book about individual expression or bringing out the personality of the models; it is a book about successfully executing the cliches.
Not a bad thing to have poses and concepts that always work, even when you're tired or burned out or out of ideas. But the book fails.
It fails because, idiotically, the photos do not work with the text. Gomez attempts to explain these poses WITH WORDS ALONE. Although the book has lots of photos, they DO NOT relate to the text. Instead, the photos are apropos of nothing in the text, and are merely snapshots and accompanying captions or anecdotes about previous or other shoots.
I don't recall ever seeing such idiotic design in a book published by a major publisher. Imagine a book about climbing Everest, for example, but all the photos were about other climbs. Or a book about Football but all photos were of miscellaneous other sports. Idiotic? You bet!
If the text were supported by photos the book would rate a 4 or 5. Especially since all the shots were done by Gomez. His previous book was a mess because it was a hodgepodge of snapshots contributed by friends and seminar attendees.
The fundamental monstrous error in concept and design makes the book near-useless for its stated purpose, and leaves the discerning reader feeling, correctly, gypped.
